"Kimberly-Clark, the manufacturer of Huggies diapers, has begun shutting down its Nigerian operations, laying off 90% of its employees. This comes three days after announcing its exit from the country. The company cited "refocused strategic priorities" and "economic developments" as reasons for its departure. Kimberly-Clark's exit marks another significant departure of a multinational company from Nigeria, following similar moves by Unilever, GSK, and PZ Cussons. The company's $100 million manufacturing facility in Lagos, launched in 2022, will be written off, and production and marketing of Huggies and Kotex products in Nigeria will cease."
