TRUE LOVE?? The Titanic versus Romeo and Juliet!!

What is love? i mean True love in a Relationship between a man and a woman? I saw Shakespeare's most famous play Romeo and Juliet and no doubt ,extensive research and survey reveals most people believed and still believes this to be the greatest  model  love story? Strong love? True Love? Powerful Love blah blah blah ------if only my boyfriend could be Romeo feeling .huh!! You are my juliet am your Romeo thing still goes round every valentine's day. Sorry to burst the Shakespeare bubble  because i would not want to date or worse still marry a "Juliet"  here is why? Can you imagine what  Shakespeare's Juliet  would have made of  Jack 's Sacrifice in the Titanic?

A quick summary goes like this, Some Guy named Romeo of the Montague family was Madly in love with Juliet of the Capulet family, Two families not in good terms, The play had lots of street brawls involving the two families and Mr Romeo even had to kill one mr Tybalt in the course of seeking "true Love" resulting in the Prince of Verona banishing Romeo from Verona threatening death should he ever return. Juliet's Father Mr Capulet wants Juliet married to another man named Paris but she tries to fight her father's wishes, failing to dissuade him. Juliet contemplates committing suicide if all else fails..After so many Hide and seek and Tom and Jerry Tactics from Romeo ,Secret wedding plans, The Game plan to feign Juliet's Death to enable perfect the secret wedding went wrong.

Romeo Thought Juliet to be truly dead takes his poison, kisses Juliet and dies, Juliet, then wakes up to find her Romeo dead. Juliet kisses Romeo and stabs herself and died! Then the two families (Montague &Capulet) finally ended their feud. Great dramatic skill by Shakespeare! TRAGEDY? Yes! GREAT STORY? Yes! TRUE LOVE MODEL? NO!! No disrespect to William Shakespeare who borrowed heavily from both The Tragically History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in 1562, and retold in prose in Palace of Pleasure by William Painter in 1582 but Shakespeare developed supporting characters in order to expand the plot. i would rather describe the strong feeling as obsession,

Have you seen the Titanic? Titanic is a 1997 American romantic drama film directed, written, co-produced and co-edited by James Cameron about the sinking of the RMS Titanic. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, two members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ill-fated maiden voyage of the ship. Jack and Rose were washed into the freezing Atlantic Ocean. Jack and Rose manage to grab hold of a carved oak door, which can only support one person. Jack suffers from severe hypothermia, and dies in Rose's arms. Imagine Jack and Juliet??Jack loved Rose and sacrificed his Life for her, A suicidal Juliet would have made a mockery of Jack's sacrifice by killing herself making the sacrifice useless! Rose staying alive is a true reflection of her love for the man she truly loved and cherished and last time i checked she never got married to any other man.
TRAGEDY? yes! GREAT STORY? Yes! TRUE LOVE MODEL? Absolutely!

Here is the last part of the story
Rose is rescued when a lifeboat returns, and is taken by the RMS Carpathia to New York, where she gives her name as Rose Dawson (adopting Jack's surname, leading everyone to believe Rose DeWitt Bukater died on the Titanic). She also sees Cal for the last time on Carpathia's deck, looking for her.
Having completed her story, the elderly Rose goes to the stern of Lovett's ship. After she steps onto the railing, it is revealed she still has the Heart of the Ocean in her possession. She drops the diamond into the water, sending it to join the remains of the most important event of her life. The film ends with a shot of Rose in bed. Around her are pictures of her doing everything she said she would do with Jack throughout her life. The final shot of the film is where the young Rose is reunited with Jack at the Grand Staircase of the Titanic, surrounded and applauded by those who perished on the ship, as they kiss passionately.

Romeo and Juliets was more of  perfect description  of the characters' myopic existence for one another as they blindly go through the act of irrational Love and obsession. Shakespeare's  sucidal Juliet would have made a mockery of  Titanic Jack's sacrifice by commiting suicide so soon thereafter.

,(Note- The main characters and the central love story are fictional, but some characters (such as members of the ship's passengers and crew) are based on historical figures. Gloria Stuart plays the elderly Rose, who narrates the film in a modern day framing device
