Results of the may/June 2011 West African senior school certificate Examination (WASSCE) conducted by the council, were released on Wednesday,August 10,2011 and posted on its website www.waecdirect.org.
Subsequently, due to the release of some outstanding results, there was need to update the results, unfortunately ,in the process of updating/uploading the results, a wrong results file was uploaded on the website.Consequently, the result which were released on August 10,2011 and uploaded on the website, were over-written by the new results. The uploading of the wrong result file was traced to human error.
When the council realized what had occurred, the entire results were immediately withdrawn from the website Thereafter, the correct file, which contained the first batch of results as they were released on August 10,2011 and some outstanding results was uploaded. However ,reports indicated that some candidates had already accessed/downloaded the wrong results from the website.
The council issued a press release on Tuesday ,August 30,2011 in which it explained what had occured and stressed that the authentic results for the may/June 2011 WASSCE were those released on august 10,2011 which are the results (including the updates) ,on the website now .The council has,in addition ,informed the universities, polytechnics and colleges of Education through their respective regulatory bodies,i.e NUC, NBTE and NCCE
The council, therefore, wishes to draw the attention of the general public, particularly schools that registered candidates for the May /June 2011 WASSCE,that the authentic results for that examination diet were those released on August 10,2011 which are on the website now.The hard copies of the results had already been dispatched to schools. The certificates to be issued will reflect the results on the website and the hard copies issued to schools
